Everybody Writes by Ann Handley was one of the first books I’ve read in my early content career. The book's premise is that anyone can be a compelling writer if given the guidance and tools to do so. In my various content design roles, I’ve worked with product owners, designers and other non-content design folks who help write UX copy. This gets on the nerves of many of my fellow content designers. I mean, our specialty is writing. How could anyone else possibly write?
I used to believe that, too. But that's no longer true for me today. My role as a content designer has transformed, especially with the emergence of tools like Hemingway and ChatGPT.
So, what do I do?
My role isn't just about writing. It's about supporting the team—balancing business and user needs—and delivering intuitive experiences with content and strategy. Whether you need peer review for your microcopy or help with your content processes or priorities, I'm here to offer my expertise and support.
I also work with researchers, designers, product managers/owners, and developers to improve experiences through the lens of content and to increase collaboration and alignment. Here are some things I can do:
• Content management + auditing • Competitive analysis •User testing •User flows + UI copy • Style guide + messaging frameworks • Card sorting + information architecture • UX discovery workshops • NLU Training
I'm a lifelong learner, and my skills and knowledge of the field constantly evolve. So, stay tuned for new developments.
